Denver is located at the center of the Front Range Urban Corridor, between the Rocky Mountains to the west and the High Plains to the east. It lies within the semi-arid, continental climate zone. The weather there is variable with four distinct seasons and large temperature variations between day and night. Due to the combination of geography and meteorology, when heavy rain falls across the region, narrow canyons and steep mountains help torrents of water down into the heavily populated foothills to the west and north of Denver.
This project aims to build an urban green infrastructure system incorporating with natural water system to manage the water both from the precipitation of the city and the South Platte river which go through Denver.
Concerning to the situation of Denver’s urban development, with economy model change and urban expansion in Denver, the existing industrial land with low utilization ratio need to be redeveloped. The existing urban fabric and traffic system are going to merge with green system to create a new mix-use district with cultural institutions as the anchor.
